Hi! I’m Forum Modi

HCI Designer, Trans Tech Researcher, and Educator

The (queer) Forum that studies (queer) forums

I’m an Informatics Ph.D. candidate at Indiana University Bloomington studying Trans Technology to understand how queer and trans people use social media and technology to find and obtain support.

I take an interdisciplinary approach to research combining methods and theories from Gender Studies, Decolonial Studies, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer Science to study the ways technology can be designed to support Trans individuals. As I move towards my dissertation research, my plan is to investigate the need for a Decolonial Trans Technology Design framework.

Alongside my research, teaching is one of my greatest passions, and I strive to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and growth. I’ve taken a hands-on approach to making course material more engaging for students as both an Instructor of Record and Associate Instructor. I primarily teach courses related to introductory programming (python) and data science.
